Hukom sa kaso ni Corona di matagna: Davao mayor

Sunday, May 27, 2012

"Unfortunately, I haven't really followed the impeachment hearings. I only watched Corona's testimony on Friday because of the walkout circus few days ago," suma ni Duterte sa mensahe sa text nga gipadala sa Sun.Star Davao.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

"I can't predict the political biases of the judges," suma ni Braga.

(Jereco O. Paloma)

From Baku, With Love (And Intolerance)

The problem with Armenians was settled a bit more easily. Armenia and Azerbaijan are still in a state of war over Armenia's occupation of Azerbaijan's territory of Nagorno Karabakh. Armenians are now widely, and virulently, hated in Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan has been spending billions on its military for what appears to be an inevitable war to take back Karabakh from the Armenians. So there was the potential for some awkardness if Armenia's Eurovision competitors and fans came to Baku. But this crisis was averted by the Armenians themselves who, bowing to pressure from their own nationalists, dropped out of the contest. Prospects for better relations through song were dim, anyway: In 2009, Azerbaijani police actually called in for questioning locals who dared vote for Armenia's Eurovision entry, tracing the votes to their cell phone. (Azercell, the mobile-phone company implicated in that incident, is an official Eurovision sponsor this year.)

Coffee - From Foods to Drink. The background of the discovery of coffee is rife with speculation. Its transition from foods to beverage is equally open to interpretation and historical distinctions.

Early European explorers and botanists assumed that Ethiopians chewed raw coffee beans for electrical power soon after finding their grazing goats consuming the coffee berry.

They would pound the ripened coffee berries and combine them with animal unwanted fat so they grew to become pasty spherical pellets.

The concentration of coffee, excess fat, and protein grew to become a vital supply of energy and sustenance, in particular during lean times or throughout war. The coffee cherries were also probably eaten raw Read This mainly because the pulp is sweet and has the added benefit of caffeine. Early documents even indicate that coffee cherries have been utilised to make wine.

Its probable that coffee was handled as foods in Arabia as properly.

Only later did the early Arabs use it as a drink.

Information demonstrate that the earliest version of coffee as a drink took area by steeping entire coffee hulls in cold water. The hulls had been then roasted about an open fire, and then boiled again in h2o till a pale yellow liquid was manufactured. By 1000AD, coffee was nonetheless quite rudimentary, consisting of green coffee beans and their hulls. 7 Rewards of Consuming Natural and organic Meals & Electric power Drink Recipes For You.Various other articles from the artice writer : To Learn More

(AP) ? With another season on the brink, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James took their two-man game to new heights.

Just like that, the Miami Heat and a Big Three-Minus-One are headed back to the Eastern Conference finals.

Wade scored 41 points, James added 28 and the Heat finished off the once-frisky Indiana Pacers 105-93 in Game 6 Thursday night, advancing to face either Boston or Philadelphia in the next round.

The way Miami's dynamic duo is playing, it may not matter who's got next.

"They're going to be tough to beat by anybody," Indiana coach Frank Vogel said.

This was a 4-2 triumph that came down to a trilogy, Wade and James responding with the most remarkable week of their high-powered partnership, just when it looked as though the Heat were down and might be out.

Over the course of three dazzling games, James scored 98 points, grabbed 34 rebounds and dished out 24 assists. Wade had 99 points, 22 rebounds and 11 assists. Chris Bosh, sidelined by an abdominal injury, wasn't missed at all.

"In the regular season, we've had some good games," Wade said. "But I don't know if we've ever had three in a row like that in the playoffs, the way we played off each other."

Of course, nothing less than an NBA title will do in South Beach.

Two series down, two to go.

One week earlier, Miami was down 2-1 after getting thumped 94-75 in Indianapolis. The fired-up Pacers had another game on their home court and a chance to build a commanding lead.

Wade and James simply refused to let it happen.

"We understand that when Chris went out, we had to step up," D-Wade said. "The team looked to us to lead."

The banged-up Heat will get a chance to relax a couple of days before worrying about the next opponent, who will be determined in Game 7 at Boston on Saturday. The conference finals start Monday in Miami.

Bosh hopes to return at some point, but it might not matter.

Not the way Wade and James are playing.

"Chris Bosh is an awesome basketball player, but when he goes down, that just means more touches for LeBron and Wade," Vogel said. "That's not exactly an advantage."

The Heat rallied from an early 11-point deficit, riding the hot hand of Wade in the opening half. He scored 26 points by the break, tying Tim Hardaway's 16-year-old franchise record for most playoff points in the first two quarters. James hit consecutive baskets with just over a minute remaining to close it out.

David West led Indiana with 24 points and all five starters were in double figures. Balance, it turned out, was no match for Wade and James.

"Guys are disappointed but understand that it's not our time yet," West said.

In a game of spurts, the decisive one came in the closing minutes of the third quarter.

The Pacers tied it at 66 on Darren Collison's 3-pointer, but it was all Heat the rest of the period. They closed on a 13-3 run, capped by Mario Chalmers' buzzer-beating 3 from the corner. Wade, who was on the bench getting his customary breather at the end of the quarter, leaped from his seat as the ball left Chalmers' hand at the far end, raced along the baseline and pumped his fist when it swished.

When Chalmers raced toward the Miami bench, Wade greeted him near the free throw line with a low-five.

"We just had a bad stretch," West said. "They got us in the third quarter."

Cheerleading aside, D-Wade did his best work while in the game. He dropped 11-of-16 shooting on the Pacers in the first half, but also made sure the MVP stayed involved, dishing off a behind-the-back pass to James for a thunderous jam.

"They're too good," West said. "They pressure you all over the place."

There was none of the nastiness that marked Game 5, when a bunch of flagrant fouls resulted in suspensions for two Miami players, co-captain Udonis Haslem and backup center Dexter Pittman. Pacers president Larry Bird was so disgusted with his team's performance in a 95-86 loss that he accused them of going "soft."

Toughness wasn't the problem this time. This was merely a Miami team on a mission, a mission that began in the summer of 2010 when the Heat signed James and Bosh to join Wade in a seemingly unbeatable trio. There was a glitzy introduction and predictions of multiple championships, which left the rest of the league seething and plenty of people cheering when Miami was knocked off in the NBA finals by the Dallas Mavericks last season.

Shaking off that disappointment, James had perhaps his greatest season yet. But it was Wade who took control in the decisive game against the Pacers. He sliced into the lane, throwing up a one-handed shot that looked like it might go over the backboard, only to catch the top of the glass and drop through, barely touching the twine. He delivered one final blow when he split West and George Hill, banking in the shot despite taking a knee from Hill that sent the Heat guard tumbling to the court.

"We just didn't have enough yet," Vogel said, "but we'll be back."

Chalmers finished with 15 points, while Mike Miller stepped up to provide some quality minutes, scoring 12 points on four 3-pointers to help fill the void without Haslem, Pittman and Bosh.

When Miller wasn't in the game, he stretched out along the baseline to cope with his various aches and pains, more comfortable that way than sitting in a chair. When coach Erik Spoelstra called his number, Miller summoned several of his teammates to help lift him up.

"He might be the toughest guy on the team," Wade said.

The Big Two aren't too shabby, either.

Notes: Indiana started 8 of 9 from the field, but went just 26 of 61 (43 percent) the rest of the way. ... The Heat held the Pacers to an average of less than 40 points in the second half over the last three games. ... Miami had only 10 turnovers, its fewest in the series.

Getting a lump sum vs. getting a structured settlement:

If you find yourself in a personal injury or medical malpractice lawsuit you will more thank likely settle upon an agreement to receive money in a lump sum or over time. This also depends on how much you will be receiving. If the settlement is a few thousand more than likely you will take the payment in one lump sum. If the payment is a few hundred thousand then you may have payments spread out over time.
It may be wise to spread payments out overtime if you know you this will help you with medical bills and having a constant income source. It is sad to say but most times you medical malpractice or personal injuries can cause long-term effects, which you will need, constant income to provide money for the monthly check ups. It is important to spread your money out because your health should be a number one priority.
Another option you could do if you are able to obtain a job and you would like to receive a lump sum of money is to invest wisely and talk with a financial advisor. This way you will not lose your money quickly and you can invest in long-term goals instead of spending impulsively.
If you want the best of both worlds with lump sums and monthly payments you can combine the two. You would then receive a lump sum down payment and then periodic payment thereafter.
Whichever way you choose to have your money set up in a settlement case you want to make sure you invest in a financial advisor to help you make the most of your money and invest wisely. The beauty of a structured settlement set up over time if you do have a significant amount and you find yourself in a financial crunch you can sell portions of the payment depending on the debt you are in.
Either way you will have plenty options in settling your money, choosing the right one that is best for you and your future definitely takes some considerable thought.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Driving onto an Interstate highway? Crossing a bridge on the way into work? Taking a tunnel under a river or bay? Get ready to pay.

With Congress unwilling to contemplate an increase in the federal gas tax, motorists are likely to be paying ever more tolls as the government searches for ways to repair and expand the nation's congested highways.

Tolling is less efficient and sometimes can seem less fair than the main alternative, gasoline taxes. It can increase traffic on side roads as motorists seek to evade paying. Some tolling authorities ? often quasi-governmental agencies operating outside the public eye ? have been plagued by mismanagement. And some public-private partnerships to build toll roads have drowned in debt because of too-rosy revenue predictions.

Tolls are hardly a perfect solution. But to many states and communities, they're the best option available.

"It's very hard in this environment for states to add capacity without charging a toll because they can't afford to do it," said Joshua Schank, president of the Eno Center for Transportation, a Washington think tank. "They're barely able to maintain what they've got, and there is an urgent need for capacity."

Some changes already are under way.

In addition to the tolls allowed on Interstates in 15 states, mostly in the Northeast and Midwest, the U.S. has agreed to pilot toll projects on Interstate 95 in Virginia and North Carolina and on Interstate 70 in Missouri.

A commission created by Congress to recommend ways to pay for upkeep of the nation's transportation system predicted in 2009 that the U.S. will face nightmarish congestion unless it spends more. The commission estimated all levels of government were spending a cumulative $137 billion less each year than is necessary to maintain and expand the current system. Without action, there will be a $2 trillion-plus backlog by 2035, it said.

It's been nearly two decades since Congress last increased the federal gas and diesel taxes that have historically paid for highways. Meanwhile, the cost of road and bridge construction has gone up and the purchasing power of fuel taxes has declined by more than a third. Revenue is also down because people have been driving less due to the uncertain economy and because cars are becoming more fuel-efficient.

Federal and state fuel tax revenues peaked in 2007 at $72.4 billion, then dropped to $68.6 billion in 2010, the most recent year for which data are available. Meanwhile, state toll collections rose from $4.9 billion in 2000 to $8.9 billion in 2010, and locally administered tolls rose from $1.6 billion in 2000 to $2.5 billion in 2009.

The trust fund that pays for federal highway programs is forecast to go broke sometime next year, though the House and Senate are trying to negotiate a bill to shore up the funding and overhaul transportation programs. It's unclear whether they'll reach a deal, but if they do, it's likely to contain only a short-term financial fix. That means lawmakers will be back again, scratching for more.

Tolling is the easiest near-term way to pay the bills, says Robert Atkinson, who chaired the financing commission. "If you could allow modest tolling on Interstates, you could raise a lot of money," he said.

Fifteen states, mostly in the Northeast and Midwest, that had turnpikes before the 1956 advent of the Interstate system have grandfathered permission to collect tolls on 2,900 miles of the 47,000-mile system. But federal restrictions prevent other states from placing tolls on federal-aid highways except in limited circumstances.

States want Congress to increase their ability to charge tolls and to allow them to use the money for a variety of transportation needs ? not just upkeep of the roads where tolls are collected, said Eugene Conti, North Carolina's transportation secretary, at a Senate hearing last month.

But states also have a history of slapping tolls on roads traveled by a large share of out-of-state motorists. When Pennsylvania applied to put tolls on Interstate 80, a route favored by truckers, the federal government rejected the plan partly because some of the money raised would have gone to support public transit in Philadelphia, even though the highway doesn't touch the city's metro area. In 2004, Chicago leased its Skyway, an eight-mile road and bridge, to a private toll operator for 99 years in exchange for $1.8 billion that was used to pay off city debt. The resulting toll increases fell heavily on Indiana commuters who use the road to get to jobs in Chicago.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., has introduced a bill to give the secretary of transportation oversight of tolling practices. The financing commission made a similar recommendation.

What to do about tolling isn't addressed in the highway bill now before Congress because of a standoff earlier this year between senators who favor and oppose easing tolling on Interstate highways. The issue is expected to be revived next year after the retirement of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, who has led the opposition to greater tolling.

One concern is that the Interstate system is aging, which means money must be found to repair and replace the roads.

"The roads are out there and we've paid off the mortgage, but that doesn't mean the system is paid for. ... Now the roads are crumbling and we have to upgrade them," said Patrick Jones, executive director of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association, which represents toll facilities.

Some relaxation of the ban is in the works. The Transportation Department has selected the three states ? Virginia, North Carolina and Missouri ? for pilot toll projects.

Under another program, a $2 billion project now under way would add High Occupancy Toll lanes on Interstate 495 in the Virginia suburbs of Washington. The state can't afford to build the lanes on its own, but money raised by a private investment partnership and a $586 million federal loan made the project possible.

Motorists who buy an E-ZPass that can be read electronically will be able use the lanes. Toll prices will fluctuate depending on traffic density. If toll lanes are crowded, prices will keep rising until enough motorists decide to remain in the slower lanes. The aim is to give motorists a way to travel quickly, but only if they are willing to pay for it ? an idea that has stirred controversy. Cars with three or more passengers will be able to use the lanes without paying.

The administrative costs of tolling are far greater than the gas tax, even when using electronic tolling, said Phineas Baxandall, a senior analyst with the private, consumer-oriented U.S. PIRG.

Some tolling agencies could also use "a dose of sunshine," Baxandall said. Because many are quasi-governmental, public disclosure, open meeting and other transparency rules don't always apply, he said. As a result, they frequently operate out of public sight, creating opportunities for corruption or manipulation by industry, he said.

A report by the New Jersey comptroller in March said cronyism and mismanagement at the Delaware River Port Authority had wasted millions of dollars. The authority operates four bridges, a ferry and a rail line across the Delaware River between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently raised cash fares on six Interstate bridges and tunnels to $12 for cars. By 2015, it will cost a five-axle truck paying cash $105 to cross between New York and New Jersey, three times as much as for any other bridge or tunnel in the country, according to the American Trucking Association. Bill Baroni, the authority's deputy executive director, told a Senate hearing the fare hikes are necessary to make up for years of neglect and mismanagement.

Despite concerns about more and higher tolls, it's difficult for lawmakers to tell state and local governments not to pursue greater tolling when Congress isn't providing a comparable alternative source of funds.

Jones, of the tolling industry association, predicted that as traffic congestion worsens, people "are going to demand, 'We need better roads, we need more efficiency,' and they are going to ask for tolling and direct user fees to build the transportation that they need."

Jury issues verdict in Android suit, finds that Google doesn't infringe Oracle patents

Image

It appears that the jury has come to a conclusion in the Oracle v. Google trial, determining that Android does not infringe Oracle patents. Judge William Alsup of the US District Court for Northern California exonerated the search giant following a trial that lasted three weeks, ruling that Google did not infringe on six claims in US Patent RE38,104, along two claims in US Patent 6,061,520. Jurors were dismissed following today's ruling, with the trial's damages phase reportedly set to begin on Tuesday. According to The Verge, the jury did determine that Google was responsible for two counts of minor copyright infringement, relating to the order of Java APIs and several lines of rangeCheck code, which could be matched with a maximum penalty of $150,000 for each count. Regardless, it appears that the lawsuit, which dates back to 2010, when Oracle filed against Google for copyright and patent infringement related to Sun's Jave code, could finally be coming to a close.

The Importance Of Finding The Right Tax Accountant | Free Finance ...

A tax accountant is focused on putting together state, local and federal tax returns for people and companies. The expert has a good amount of expertise in government regulations and business principles. The accountant provides assistance to clients on numerous methods to bring down tax liability, and also keeps them current on various taxing policies that could affect business strategies. Apart from this, the accountant helps to manage audits and settle financial disputes that come up in a workplace.

Over the years, this occupation has come into focus and is looked upon as a very rewarding profession in the financial sector. The employment opportunities are available in a number of settings such as hospitals, banks, educational institutes, government agencies, hotels, retail chains, and business organizations. The career provides the opportunity to advance to managerial positions in addition to significant remuneration. Employing a tax professional will help in providing a professional approach to the overall operation of an organization.

Educational Requirements

To become a tax accountant, an individual is required to earn a bachelor?s degree in accounting from a recognized college. The course requires about four years to finish. It is ideal to choose classes in cost accounting, business taxation, together with other relevant subjects. For individuals wanting to achieve higher positions in the corporate sector, it is very important to get a master?s degree in accounting or business. The programs fundamentally include course work in auditing, taxation, business statistics, and financial planning.

Registration and License

Tax preparers need to attain the license of certified public accountant in order to file reports with the U.S. Securities Commission. For this, the specialist needs to pass the ATP examination which will allow them to find out whether the person has knowledge in all of the taxation codes and regulations. Moreover, the specialist needs to register with the IRS and additionally acquire a preparer identification number that must be noted on all returns signed by the professional. Also, it is compulsory for the specialists to regularly attend seminars and continuing education sessions in order to be informed of the current tax laws.

Tips on Selecting the Best Accountant

You need to do thorough research on the affiliations and qualifications in your state for any accountant you?re considering. Also, check out the specialist?s history and licensing standing through the Better Business Bureau, Accountancy State Board, IRS office and Bar Associations. Another key aspect to take into account is the service fees. It can be beneficial to get a written estimate for tax filing and preparation services. However, it is a lot better to avoid accountants claiming a percentage of the refund amount or asking you to sign blank forms.

In addition, it?s also crucial to be sure that the professional is available even after filing the returns in the event of any kind of disputes in the future. You need to evaluate the returns and go over with the preparer every detail reported on the return. When satisfied, the papers should be properly signed and a copy of them will need to be obtained from your tax accountant for future needs.

I Don't Stay Home, But My Husband Works Hard | Toddler Times

birthday 300x200 99.9% of Fathers Work Hard

My handsome & hard-working man. I hope my son grows up to be just like him.

I?d like to think that I?ve come a long way as a working momma, from someone who was miserable & sick over leaving her son to a gal who enjoys her day & job.?Being in a job where working mommas are normal & there no archaic people asking me why I ?don?t want to be home with my baby? helps, too.

I roll my eyes when people insinuate that someone else is raising my baby, because I?m pretty darn sure it was me?tucking him back into bed at 4am?the other morning.? I let it roll off my back when someone tells me to ?prioritize? to stay home with my family, when the priorities we set are the reason I work ? it?s how we want to raise our family.? Children are dying of starvation, so let?s not worry about the 8 hours my child spends in the watchful & fun care of his daycare.

But I have to admit that there is still one phrase that burns the butter on my biscuit.

?My husband works hard so that I can stay home.?

You know, or something like that.

I get it, really.? Your husband DOES work hard & you are proud of him, thankful, & you should be!? I think it is wonderful when a family goal is to have a stay-at-home mother & the husband?s job affords that plan.? I also love to hear women build up their men.? I?m an old-fashioned sap like that.? If you can?t be nice about your spouse, who can you be nice about?

But when I see it used on Facebook updates that say something to the effect of, ?I have the best job in the world ? mommy! So glad I have a husband that works so hard so I can be at home with our children!??well, it puts me in HULK SMASH defensive mode because sounds like ?SMUG ALERT 5000!? I think my husband is a better man than yours! You don?t stay home because your husband is a bum!?? I feel the need to defend the honor of my man, who also works hard but who?s company doesn?t offer benefits.? Who earns salary, so overtime is not an option.

Here?s the deal ? unless your baby daddy is a crack-smoking K-Fed wannabe that lays on the couch all day, your partner works hard.? Whether he makes minimum wage sorting mail or is a partner in a law firm making six figures, that man is working for his family & deserves to be praised.

p.s. doug, thank you for working hard for our family.? not only are you devilishly handsome & good in bed, but i?m proud of you!
p.p.s. this is my personal burned biscuit & my personal butter. you may internalize those phrases differently & hey! that?s cool!? different flavored biscuits for everyone!

Howard Stern's dad steals the show on 'AGT'

By Sean Daly, AGTnews.com

NBC

"AGT" hopeful Ronald Charles gets some important advice from Howard Stern's father, Ben.

When one Stern just isn?t enough, "America's Got Talent" gives us two!

Night two of the Big Apple tryouts had nothing nearly as exciting as those jumping Olate Dogs -- but at least we got to meet Howard Stern?s dad.

Ben Stern, 89, was even coaxed on stage by his attention-grabbing son to deliver some career advice to the very first act of the night (a retail sales clerk who couldn?t carry a tune if it had handles).

?Don?t be stupid, you moron,? he said, recalling advice he gave to the future King of All Media as a teen. ?You have to sit down and think this over carefully.? First of all, you have to make a living.?

Other than that, a few acts caught our eye -- but no one who looks like they have potential to go far in the competition.

Audition Video: Olate Dogs (S7)

Among the standouts:

Stepz, 22 (Dancer)

His real name is Tyrese Green and he comes to the stage -- by way of Patterson, NJ -- with one of the show?s most powerful backstories.

(His parents were drug addicts living in a gang infested neighborhood. Mom gave him the boot so she could pursue her habit, so Stepz was raised by grandma.? Mom is now clean and was in the audience to cheer her son on.)

Stepz teaches dance, which is a plus. But Howard wasn?t sold on his robot-like moves to Lady Gaga?s ?Telephone.?? ?You can dance, but I don?t think this is the kind of act people will pay for,? he said. Howie and Sharon disagree.? Next stop: Vegas.

Tom Cotter, 48 (Comedian)

This show is not cut out for comics, but the father of three is off to a good start. What he lacked in unique style and delivery, he made up for with funny one-liners. (?I?m the youngest in my family. I was always getting beat up by the two oldest: Mom and Dad??)

Sharon loved him: ?You delivered! It was one laugh after another.?

Howard agreed: ?With so many comic, I find myself doing that fake laugh. With you, it was genuine laughs.?

Tom moves on.

John Pizzi, 50 (Ventriloquist/Comic)

Could this be the next Terry Fator? Doubtful.? But Pizzi did put a unique spin on the age-old talking dummy gag by replacing the dummy with an iPad and a giant projection display. He then performed three different skits with avatars of each judge talking about the sexual tension between them.

Howie reminded us that he is not a fan of ventriloquists -- but loved this one.

Howard offered a standing ovation and praised him as an ?original.? ?You are funny, you have good material,? he said. "You are well thought out.?

It was through to Vegas.

7 Year-Old Rapper Mir Money Posts Message To Fans

All Beef Patty, (Drag queen dancer)

We only got to see a brief snippet of ABP?s audition. Patty performed Lady Gaga?s ?You and I? decked out in a zebra print jacket, black stockings and a foot tall bright pink wig.? (At least we hope it was a wig!)? Howie was sold right away.? ?You can be a star,? he said.?

And off to Sin City she goes.

Auditions move to Tampa on Monday.? Who knows what we?ll find there!

What did you think of Howard Stern's dad? And what about the latest acts to hit the "AGT" stage? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Marvel Comics plans wedding for gay hero Northstar

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? Wedding bells will ring this summer for Marvel Comics' first openly gay hero, super speedster Northstar, and his longtime boyfriend.

The New York-based publisher said Tuesday that Canadian character Jean-Paul Beaubier will marry his beau, Kyle Jinadu, in the pages of "Astonishing X-Men" No. 51. That's due out June 20.

Northstar revealed he was gay in the pages of "Alpha Flight" No. 106 in 1992, one of Marvel Entertainment's first characters to do so.

Ten years later, in 2002, gay characters Apollo and the Midnighter were married in the pages of "The Authority" published by DC's Wildstorm imprint.

Since then, numerous comic book heroes and villains have been written as gay, lesbian or transgender ? from DC Comics' Kate Kane, aka Batwoman, to Hulkling and Wiccan in the pages of "Young Avengers."

Comics, as a medium, have embraced gay, lesbian and transgender characters, including the introduction of Kevin Keller by Archie Comics. Comic strips have done likewise.

This month, cartoonist Tom Batiuk is writing about a gay couple trying to attend their high school prom in "Funky Winkerbean," a move that has divided the fictional community.

"As I sit in on the classes at my old high school, I see how the younger generation's attitude toward gays is more open and accepting than that of their predecessors," Batiuk said.

For Marvel, the upcoming wedding is a way to further embed same-sex issues in its contemporary universe.

"The Marvel Universe has always reflected the world outside your window, so we strive to make sure our characters, relationships and stories are grounded in that reality," said Axel Alonso, Marvel's editor-in-chief.

Author Marjorie Liu, who is writing "Astonishing X-Men," said the decision to have the pair marry was appropriate.

"As a writer ? and a romance novelist, no less ? I've always found it a bit odd when characters in comic books remain in relationship limbo for years at a time," she said.

"Certainly, that happens in real life ? some relationships just never grow ? but the wonderful thing about stories is that they tend to move readers and characters forward," Liu said, adding that Northstar pops the question in issue No. 50, which is due out on Wednesday.

"And, in this case, it was time to do the same to Northstar and Kyle, who have one of those rare comic book romances that actually works."

As for the event itself, Liu said the wedding will take place in New York City, where gay marriage is legal, but given that Northstar is on the X-Men, it remains to be seen if the event will be trouble-free.

"As for the ceremony ... well, what wedding ever goes off without a hitch?"

Activist Post: UN to Control World's Information and Communications ...

Susanne Posel, Contributor
Activist Post

In a report from the World Bank, Africa?s economic development was outlined as a ?golden opportunity for a green future?.

At the 4th Africa Carbon Forum (ACF) ?The vast potential represented by African countries in the fight against climate change cannot be underestimated,? said Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

?The Africa Carbon Forum is where potential projects and developers and funders can meet, exchange ideas, and ? it is hoped ? take the concrete steps toward greening Africa?s future.?

The ACF held a conference where policymakers, project developers, and private investors discussed climate-smart agriculture, public and private partnerships and funding for projects. However, it is clear that Africa holds more promise than just the inception of carbon emission reduction and carbon finance.

The attraction of Africa is its rich wealth of natural resources. This continent contains enormous deposits of diamonds, cobalt, copper, uranium, magnesium and tin. Over $1 billion in gold is mined each year.

The UK?s Department of International Development, along with researchers from the British Geological Survey and the University of London found underground aquifers of clean and untouched water in Africa that are 100 times the amount found on the surface of the continent.

Through the convergence of multi-national corporations onto Africa, there has been an obvious initiative to corporatize the continent?s resources.

An $11 million dollar project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Coca-Cola Corporation are employing 50,000 Kenyan and Ugandan smallholders to produce fruit for Minute Maid, a subsidiary for Coca-Cola.

The UN has announced plans to allow corporations and foreign governments to land grab in African nations like Ethiopia, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone.

Africa has ?voluntarily? signed agreements with multi-national corporations and foreign investors, allowing them to control agricultural land. The nation?s leaders believe that giving access to their resources will benefit their people; however this is just another manipulative ploy to coercively acquire control over land, food production and securitization.

The document entitled ?The UN Global Compact and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises? outlines through ?voluntary? means how the UN will implement their international guidelines with respect to corporate conduct, standards and abilities.

President Obama will soon publicly announce his $3 billion plan to securitize Africa?s food supply?and agricultural farms.

The UK, multi-national corporations, some African countries and other G-8 nations will be joined together as the New Alliance for Food and Nutrition Security (NAFNS).

The CEOs of 40 US privately owned corporations have pledged $3.5 billion in food and nutritional assistance alongside the government.

The New Alliance for Food and Nutrition Security will be established to carry out collaborative efforts with private investors and corporations, under the oversight of Obama. The initiative will implement model farms and training centers.

Yet, it is not just the securitization of agriculture, natural resources and water that is attracting corporations, the UN and Obama to Africa.

Africa is to be transitioned into a technological hub, focusing on technology research. Under the promise of employment opportunities and improving educational institutions, the actual agenda is the diversification of strategies with foreign partners that will facilitate manufacturing industrialization and technological development through the corporate takeover of Africa.

Under careful control, the UN has planned to create an Africa that will become not only the food center of the world, but also the single processor of the world?s communications.

The ICT Sector Unit, a department of the World Bank, has plans to turn Africa into a centralized internet epicenter?where the flow of information and communications are under UN governance.

The ICT is a specialized department controlling ?policy and regulatory matters, in eGovernment, information technology, innovation and the enabling environment. This Unit promotes access to information and communication technologies in developing countries.?

They will provide governments and private organizations with the directives and capital to infiltrate Africa through corporatism. The creation of infrastructure and eGovernment projects will be handled solely through the ICT.

The funding will come from donors, international organizations and non-government organizations (NGOs). Telecommunications think-tanks with regional telecommunication associations will work with private sector ?experts? and the UN?s International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to construct a technological industry that will yield not only profit, but power.

The ITU is the UN?s information and communication technologies agency. They ?allocate global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develop the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strive to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.?

By whatever means necessary, their goal is to facilitate the flow of communication; which is completely under their dominion.

One initiative already in progress is the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope project; a $2 billion investment that is meant to be the biggest research instillation in the world.

The enormous computing power this installation is capable of will ?take the current global daily Internet traffic and multiply it by two, and you start to approach the stupendous scales of data the Square Kilometre Array will churn out daily ? about an exabyte per day. This vastly outpaces the state of the art in computing,? notes Ton Engbersen of IBM Research in Zurich. ?The area you would need for PCs is larger than the SKA.?

Billions are being poured into the development of this project by foreign investors. On April 4th, the SKA Organization held a two-day meeting in The Netherlands, concluding with a press statement that they want to take an ?inclusive approach? to the location of the project.

That location has become the continent of Africa.

The project would be a joint venture between the governments of South Africa and other participating nations, but the majority of costs would come from the privately funded SKA Organization.

The SKA project is part of the ICT?s plan to create a broadband universal portal that will be the access point by which online resources and information are disbursed throughout the world.

Under the Broadband Commission for Digital Development , the UN?s Millennium Development Goals will be met as their universal portal will become the centralized broadband Internet provider to the world.

The ITU will be in conference at the end of this year, with major telecommunication and information corporations to devise a treaty that will regulate important aspects of the Internet, as well as create jurisdiction over telecoms and ICT industries. This international treaty will effectively control all communication as we know it.

This includes:

? Internet
? Cell phones
? Emails
? Faxes
? Satellites
? Governmental intelligence networks
? All other digital communications

The treaty will give the UN unilateral governance over the Internet, as well as telecommunication issues such as accounting rates and termination charges for next-generation networks, data privacy, cyber security, international mobile roaming, and equipment specifications.

Africa is going to be the centralized network of global controls that force all other nations and countries to become dependent upon the UN.

This is how the UN ultimately plans to achieve global governance.

Where are Facebook's friends? Stock down after IPO

(AP) ? Facebook's stock is tumbling well below its $38 IPO price in the social network's second day of trading as a public company on Monday.

Investors and technology industry watchers are closely tracking the Menlo Park, Calif.-based company's shares. The world's largest online social network was one of the most anticipated initial public stock offerings ever, and now serves as a bellwether for other social media companies.

Facebook's market debut Friday suffered some hiccups, with trading on the Nasdaq delayed for a half hour and issues with traders' orders. The stock closed Friday just a few cents above where it priced Thursday night, when many investors had hoped for a big first-day pop. The shares opened Friday at $42.05, and fluctuated throughout the day before closing at $38.23.

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, who came out with an "Outperform" rating on Facebook before its IPO, said he thinks the underwriters overestimated demand for the company's stock. Last week, the underwriters, led by Morgan Stanley, increased the offering price range. On Wednesday, Facebook's early investors and other stockholders increased the number of shares they were selling in the IPO. Both had seemingly been signals that there was strong demand for shares.

"The late addition of 84 million shares to the offering overwhelmed demand, limiting the first day price," Pachter said in a note to investors.

On Monday, Facebook Inc.'s stock fell $4.22, or 11 percent, to $34.01 in late morning trading. Shares dropped as low as $33 earlier.
